🔎 Candy AI In-Depth Review
I took my sweet time to try out Candy.ai and chatted with various characters to see what the experience is like in action. For the most part, I was super impressed by the chat and also appreciated the accuracy of image and video generation.
Let’s talk about the different features in more detail:
🎭 Character and Backstories
Candy AI has a huge collection of AI characters, including realistic and anime. The platform keeps realistic girls and anime girls as separate categories, which is nice considering not every guy might be into anime stuff.
You don’t even need to sign up to explore the characters (typically created by the users). That instantly gives you a taste of what it has to offer.
No matter what you’re into, I bet you can find a character and backstory to match that. And if not, you can always create your own (but more on that later).
There are young, older, emo, farm, gamer, catholic, nerdy, realtors, scientists, doctors, and so much more. Their appearances seem to be influenced by who they are, and that is a great detail. You instantly have the context of who this chick is and what sort of stuff she might be into (if you know what I mean).
Each character has an accompanying profile with some information about them. Again, these are added by their creators, so it’s really up to you, as a creator, what information you add for them based on the customization options.
✍ Customization
Candy.ai offers an insane level of customization when creating a character. First off, you select whether you want to create a realistic character or an anime. I tried both one by one.
Once you’ve made the major selection, you select ethnicity, age, and eye color. Some options at this point are only unlocked with a paid plan, which is a bit of a bummer. But still, the options are decent.
Then, there’s a sector for choosing hair details, like style and color. Again, not all options are available with the free plan. Similarly, you get to decide things like body type and breast/butt size. I loved this level of detailing in appearance because I do have a thing for large butts.
Finally, you get to give your AI girlfriend a personality and decide what relationship she has with you. I imagine that would come in handy for roleplaying in chats if you want your AI girlfriend to first be something else before she becomes your ‘gf.’
I made mine a lover and a colleague. It would have been nice for me to give her a little bit of a backstory myself, but I’ll take the appearance customization any day.
Overall, the level of customization is great, except that it gives the backstory itself based on your selections. Also, you can create your own AI character with a paid plan only. The free trial only gives you a taste of it.
💬 Text Chat
There’s an inbox for all your chats. You can speak with virtually any character available or the ones you create yourself.
The personality and profile of the character are very much visible in the chats. That’s like a major part of it, which I believe helps authenticate the experience.
The messages from the AI girl also feature descriptions of actions in italic, blue colored text to distinguish from what she’s actually saying. That’s a nice touch and common in the chat interfaces on AI girlfriend platforms.
I chatted with Seraphina, a 22-year-old American biker girl, and who she is shows in the conversation. The messages take a couple of seconds to generate, which I think gives it a realistic touch (like she’s thinking what to say).
It didn’t take long for the chat to turn NSFW. She was dropping hints of looking for some actions immediately, which tells me that this platform is also geared towards more steamy NSFW conversations.
If you want to generate images within chat, you’ll have to ask for them in text. There’s no built–in image generator (there’s one separately, though). That took me a bit to figure out but once I did, it was easy.
The one drawback, however, is that the text box in chat is super small. You can type long messages, but you can’t see all of the text at once. It doesn’t expand dynamically. Not a big deal, obviously, but something I noticed as an expert in user design.
🔞 NSFW Experience
Candy AI doesn’t shy away from NSFW chat and imagery. In fact, it builds up to it in conversation. But if you want to begin the experience right away, you can use the image generator to get a character to be doing what you want.
But here’s the big caveat:
NSFW imagery unlocks with a Premium subscription. The chat can get racy and steamy, but if you want visuals to go with it, you’re going to need a subscription.
And trust me when I say this, it’s worth it.
You can have the character in full nudity or performing acts. And the attention to detail is there.
As far as the NSFW chat experience goes, the gf stayed in character the whole time. The descriptive text piqued imagination even further and gave it a bit more wow factor.
It’s basically sexting with a girl who’s actually good at it. Even if you’re not very good with words, she’ll still be able to pivot the conversation to where you want to go eventually.
And since there’s chat memory and continuity, if you’re into long stories and scenarios, you can keep the conversation going in a direction for a long time.
📷 Image and Video Generation
In Candy.ai, you can generate images of a character with the dedicated image generator in the menu and in chat. As I mentioned, if you want images or even videos in chat, you can simply use phrases like ‘show me,’ ‘send me,’ or ‘can I see’ to generate images and videos.
I tried the image generator to see how it does. You have both options; you can use your words to describe the image and give it a prompt. You can also select the customization options.
First, you select the character. Again, this can be one of the many available or your own. Then, you select things like:
- Outfit
- Action
- Pose
- Accessories
So, I generated an image for Luna, a character who works at a bookstore and loves books. I decided to get her out of the store and into something trendy and skin-hugging. I gave the generator the prompt: leaning against a brick wall, wearing shirt and ripped jeans pants, posing with a confident look.
Here’s the result:
As you can see, the result is pretty accurate and awesome. And the imagery is usually dripping in sex appeal. No matter what prompt you give, the AI girlfriend will come off hot.
Now, there’s no dedicated video generator. In fact, Candy AI is still working on adding full-fledged video features. Currently, it gives you the option to convert images into a short video. You can generate videos in chat, which are typically 10-15 seconds long. The quality is the same as the images.
🗣 Voice
The only audio feature is the call feature, which is available on the paid plan. It’s basically the same as the chat experience, except the character is speaking. I tried that to check the voice quality and type.
The voice calls are high-quality. I was able to hear everything clearly. Like chat, it takes a couple of seconds to come up with the answer and narrate it. But that means there’s no cutting off whatsoever. She will listen to you first and then answer (pun intended).
It doesn’t have the cadence of a real conversation, but that’s understandable. It would be nice to have the audio integrated into the chat experience, too, so one could send voice notes.
🔐 Privacy
Privacy is taken seriously on Candy AI, and so is security. Email is verified on sign-up, and you can activate two-factor authentication.
As far as the data privacy policy goes, it doesn’t explicitly state whether data is shared with third parties. However, your conversations and images are saved on their servers. That’s obviously so you can access those at any time. But if you want to delete, you can.
The good thing is that it doesn’t ask for anything personally identifying, nor should you share anything personal in chats as a principle. Overall, it’s a safe website with a secure connection.
As for billing, that’s completely discreet. The company behind the platform is mentioned on the credit/debit card statement (Everai).
👌 Ease of Use
The website is super easy to use and navigate. The design is clean. You have your menu on the left side, with your inbox, characters, image generator, and more.
Sign-up is quick and easy. You can create an account using your email or another account, like Google or Facebook. You do need to verify the email.
As for character generation, you have a simple and straightforward wizard that walks you through the steps. Make your selections, and voila, you have your AI girl ready.
All the complex AI stuff is in the backend. Users just need to use it like just another website with no learning curve.
⚡ Speed
The speed of the AI models powering the chat and image/video generation is decent. When I first created the character, it took about 10 seconds for it to generate.
Image generation can be slightly slower than that, taking 12-15 seconds. But that’s probably because it’s getting it absolutely right. You’ll be amazed by the accuracy of what it generates from your prompt.
Overall, the website is fast. And if you yourself have a speedy connection, everything should run smoothly.

Candy AI offers a freemium version of the website with very limited functionality. You can explore the characters available (both realistic and anime) and chat with them, but there’s a limit on the messages. Once you hit the limit, your texts won’t go through (only 100 messages).
Similarly, character generation, audio calls, and image/video generation are also fully offered with the paid plan. The free version is basically for you to try it out. It’s meant to be a paid platform.
